Community Foundation of Sarasota County Awards Scholarships to Hundreds of Local Students

Plus, MITER Foundation commits $200,000 to Tampa's new Ronald McDonald House, and more.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently selected 227 students in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties to receive a total of $853,000 in scholarships, an 8 percent increase in funding the previous year and a 10.2 percent increase in recipients.

Turning Points recently received a grant of $60,913.26 from the Ralph S. French Charitable Foundation to support Turning Points’ mission to provide free dental care to uninsured, low-income adults in Manatee County.

Neal Communities has donated $25,000 to Healthy Teens, an organization dedicated to the success and wellbeing of Florida teens in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Sarasota-based MITER Foundation, the charitable arm of MITER Brands, a residential window and door manufacturer, recently announced a $200,000 donation commitment to the new Ronald McDonald House in Tampa. The donation will take place over the course of five years, with gifting of $40,000 annually.

Embracing Our Differences has awarded $1,000 scholarships to three graduating high school seniors: Bryson Day, Melora Saing and Max Hunter. Embracing Our Differences also renewed funding for eight college students
