Code Classes with theCoderSchool can be done one-on-one or in small groups, in person or virtually.

From game development to web apps, Python to Java, and even niche technologies like AI, there’s a world of programming your children can learn with coding classes. Coding is an incredible skill that teaches not only technical ability, but also abstract thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Many children who’ve yet to find a creative outlet identify with this type of learning and thrive, but it’s not something traditionally found in after-school programs.

With the addition of theCoderSchool, located in Lakewood Ranch, now kids can learn to code either in person or virtually with their very own Code Coach. Code Classes can be done one-on-one or in small groups, and thanks to a recent partnership with the Manatee County Library System, kids can try an introductory virtual workshop for free. Workshops are held Saturday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. and are ideally suited for ages 7+. Using the basis of games that children in that age range would likely already know allows for a sense of familiarity and understanding right from the start. Kids get to become the creators!

Pete and Allyson Christinzio, the husband-and-wife team who brought Silicon Valley’s best coding school to the area, are on a mission to change the world through coding. Computer code basically shapes the way we live our day-to-day lives, and they believe that by teaching kids the tools to create, together they can inspire a generation of big ideas to make our world a better place.

Pete’s been a software developer for 20 years, and Allyson has been a stay-at-home mom for their two boys, closely involved with their schools and educational adventures. As parents, they understand that children learn differently and all have different motivations. They make coding fun and approachable, as do their Coding Coaches.

From October through December, they are offering small group coding classes for beginners. For a group of four, it is only $89/month per child to start exploring the incredible world of coding. Contact [email protected] or call 941-355-CODE (2633) to get started.
