The Sarasota Ballet

Since 1990, the mission of The Sarasota Ballet has been to enrich lives, captivate emotions and strengthen the community through the art of dance.Under the leadership of director Iain Webb, the company’s expanded repertoire includes over 140 works by world-renowned choreographers. Together with assistant director Margaret Barbieri’s vast knowledge and experience, the Company has received rave reviews nationally and internationally for the precision and excellence of the artistic quality seen on stage. And now, with the addition of Joseph Volpe as executive director for the organization, The Sarasota Ballet is perched to balance the administrative excellence with that of the artistic quality you’ve expected through the years. Volpe brings 42 years of arts management experience to Sarasota, retiring as general manager of The Metropolitan Opera in 2006. Known for his sound fiscal management, fresh customer service initiatives, educational outreach strategies and contract negotiation skills, Mr. Volpe has a proven track record in launching nonprofit organizations into the next Century.
