Despite the rain, hundreds of people turned out for downtown Sarasota's No Kings Vote Early protest this weekend, including veterans, families and leaders of local organizations like Voices of Florida and the Democratic Women's Club of Sarasota. Unlike past No Kings rallies, which have been dedicated to protesting the Trump administration's policies, this event was focused on increasing voter turnout and civic engagement ahead of the general election on Nov. 3, when Floridians will vote in a new governor, U.S. senator and a number of local representatives, among others. (Early voting now has started in both Sarasota and Manatee counties and will continue through Nov. 1.)

Other No Kings rallies were also held in Bradenton and Venice and throughout the state; here's a look at the downtown Sarasota scene, captured by photographer Damon Powers.
