Season of Sharing Campaign Raises $4.2 Million for Families in Need

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s 26th annual Season of Sharing campaign, which concluded Jan. 31, generated $4.2 million in donations. One hundred percent of the money raised through Season of Sharing goes to help individuals and families in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties pay for basic living expenses like housing, utilities, childcare and transportation. Overall, more than 57,000 households have found support through the initiative; the total amount raised through the campaign since its inception stands at $53.9 million.

The YMCA of Southwest Florida raised more than $300,000 at Casino Royale, the Sarasota YMCAs' first signature fundraising event in nearly 10 years. The funds will directly benefit the Palmer Ranch YMCA and Sarasota City YMCA.

Resilient Retreat recently received a $6,000 donation from Church of the Redeemer Episcopal Thrift House to support its resiliency programs for people dealing with the aftermath of abuse and trauma.
