Culverhouse Jr. Donates $500,000 to University of Alabama

Plus, a Longboat Key golf instructor raises more than $100,000 for First 1,000 Days Suncoast, and more.

Sarasota attorney, businessman and philanthropist Hugh Culverhouse Jr. has donated $500,000 to establish the Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. Endowed Professorship in Leadership and Policy at the University of Alabama. 

Gettel Automotive Group has awarded $150,000 to First Tee Sarasota/Manatee, supporting scholarships for youth, teens, and military families.

The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle has distributed $24,000 in grants to 18 local 501(c)(3) organizations during its second grant cycle of 2025.

Women in Philanthropy of Sarasota has made a $100,000 capping grant to Gulf Coast Community Foundation, completing a campaign that raised more than $600,000 to combat food insecurity across the region over the holiday season.
