Community Foundation of Sarasota County Directs $1.2 Million in Grants to Youth Literacy Programs

Plus, Gulf Coast Community Foundation grants $50,000 to Embracing Our Differences, and more.

Volunteer Tobi Schneider joins second-grade students at Ashton Elementary School for an Embracing Our Differences Reading Day event, where each child received a copy of “I Promise” by LeBron James. Embracing Our Differences recently received a $50,000 grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

Through its Strauss Literacy Initiative, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently directed more than $1.2 million in grant funding to regional partners to identify students who may benefit from literacy help, coach teachers and administrators to better assist them, offer scholarships and more.

Sarasota-based M/I Homes recently announced a $141,000 donation to Pelotonia, a nonprofit organization committed to funding life-saving cancer research. 

Suncoast Credit Union has made an annual pledge of $100,000 to support the Education Foundation of Sarasota County's Future-Ready program.

Embracing Our Differences has received a $50,000 Empowering Arts Grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

The Exchange recently received a $25,000 grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation to address safety and accessibility needs at the nonprofit’s facilities, including sidewalk replacement, curbing restoration, and parking lot rehabilitation. 

Florida Power & Light recently granted an EmPOWERing STEM Educators grant in the amount of $7,213.04 to the Manatee Education Foundation.
