Community Foundation of Sarasota County Awards $475,000 in Disaster Recovery Grants

Plus, CareerEdge and Opportunities for All receive a significant grant from the Barancik Foundation, and more.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded $475,000 in disaster recovery grants to Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay, EPIC Community Resource Center, United Way of South Sarasota County and SunCoast Communities Blood Bank.

CareerEdge and Opportunities For All, the workforce and minority-owned business development initiatives led by the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, have been awarded a $550,000 grant from  the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. 

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art received a grant of $55,000 from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support health and accessibility programming. This year’s grant is the second of a three-year grant agreement for the program totaling $135,000 from 2022 to 2025.

The Tidewell Foundation has received a grant of $10,000 from Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. The funds will be used to support Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly Family Grief Program, which serves children and teens who are grieving the death of a special person in their lives through peer support groups led by trained mental health counselors. 

Personalized Estate Liquidation Benefiting Youth (PEL) recently donated $25,000 to Teen Court of Sarasota.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) recently received a handful of significant grants, totaling $164,000, in support of its mission. The Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded WBTT a Strategic Partnership grant of $51,000; the Shubert Foundation awarded a grant of $30,000; and The Exchange awarded a total of $33,000.

Two foundations have awarded grants to support Safe Children Coalition’s Achievers program: the Adrienne A. Taylor Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded $22,839 in funding, and Publix Super Markets Charities awarded $5,000 in funding.

The Manatee Community Foundation's Francis E. and Gaile A. McCracken Education Scholarship Fund has awarded $7,500 to Grow Your Teacher Leadership (GOYTL) Academy, a graduate certificate program offered through the USF College of Education to help Manatee County teachers become leaders from within their classrooms and help bolster student success.

Gettel Automotive Group recently donated $25,000 to the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair program at Parrish Community High to help develop and employ young, skilled, local students for jobs in the automotive service field.
