It was nice while it lasted.

After last week's good news that the Florida Department of Health-Sarasota lifted its red tide health advisory, recent reports indicate that red tide is back at a handful of area beaches.

According to Monday's beach water samples, the DOH-Sarasota found elevated levels of red tide at Bird Key/Ringling Causeway, North Lido, Lido Casino, South Lido, Siesta Key.

The good news is that according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), only three beaches had bloom concentrations of over 100,000 cells per liter in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Anna Maria Island Rod & Reel Pier, Longboat Pass Boat Ramp and Blind Pass Beach all had levels of red tide between 100,000 and 1,000,000, so you might want to avoid those areas. Further south, Charlotte County beaches reported high levels (more than 1,000,000 cells per liter) of red tide.

We'll keep you posted about all of it.
