The Bay has raised a second $5 million from private sources, triggering a second $1 million match from The Patterson Foundation’s current challenge match. The additional match marks the second major milestone in The Patterson Foundation’s challenge for the Bay’s $24 million capital campaign, announced in July 2021, which has now generated over $12 million from private philanthropic, community sources, and matches. The latest funding brings the capital campaign to its halfway point; all of the funds will be used to develop and build new public park space at the Bay.

The Safe Children Coalition’s Achievers program recently honored high school graduates and awarded $43,000 in college scholarships to its class of 2022 participants, as well as returning college students who were engaged with the program as teens.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties received a three-year, $300,000 grant from United Way Suncoast. The funds will be used to support BGCSDC's grade-level reading program, which ensures club members are achieving grade-level benchmarks in reading/language arts and are on-track for on-time grade advancement.

The Junior League of Sarasota (JLS) invites local nonprofit organizations to apply for its community grants of up to $10,000 in the following priority categories: children, women, families and kids aging out of foster care. Special consideration will go towards organizations that the COVID-19 crisis has deeply impacted.
