Selby Foundation Awards $250,000 Grant to Selby Gardens for Palm Avenue Restoration

Plus, Mote's sea turtle hospital receives a grant to help turtles with tumors and Arts Advocates awards $20,000 in scholarships to 10 students.

The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation recently awarded Selby Gardens $250,000 Grant for the gardens' Master Plan. The funding willl assist with the renovation of historic Palm Avenue, part of Phase One of the plan.

Sales of Florida's sea turtle license plate, administered by the Sea Turtle Grants Program of the Sea Turtle Conservancy, have funded a portion of Mote Marine Laboratory sea turtle hospital’s surgical laser with a grant. Since August of 2021, the surgical laser has been used to treat seven turtles through ten surgeries at Mote’s hospital.

Arts Advocates has awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 10 local students for the 2022-2023 school year. Since 1969, the scholarship program has awarded over $1.1 million to students whose studies include visual and related arts, dance, writing, music, theater and architecture.

Gulf Coast Community Foundation has awarded $10,000 to the Sarasota Audubon Society for water quality testing at the Quad Parcels in future internship programs.
