Sarasota Magazine contributing editor Isaac Eger will appear on Legal Aid of Manasota's "Justice Matters" segment on WSLR 96.5 this morning at 9:30 a.m. Eger, along with 12th Judicial Circuit attorney Gabriele Plendl, will discuss Eger's Sarasota Magazine investigative piece "Who Owns Florida's Beaches?," which is about the privatization of Florida's beaches and the complex legalities of where the public beach ends and where private ownership begins. Conflict over this issue has intensified in recent years, with beachgoers arrested for trespassing and private homeowners erecting warning signs and hiring private security officers to monitor the sand. Among other state and national awards, Eger's story won the Parker Thomson Award for Outstanding Legal Journalism from The Florida Bar.

"Justice Matters" is part of WSLR 96.5's "Peace and Justice Report" and is hosted by 12th Judicial Circuit Public Defender Larry Eger and Legal Aid of Manasota president and CEO Linda Harradine on the third Wednesday of every month. Listen here.
