While officials say there is still plenty of water for residents, the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority is asking people who live in unincorporated areas of Sarasota County, as well as North Port and Charlotte and DeSoto counties, to conserve water for the next 30 days. According to the authority, multiple utilities are in the middle of repairs to their systems, and the authority's water treatment facility is currently operating at 75 percent of its total capacity.

"The authority currently has 6.5 billion gallons of water in our reservoir system, so the water resource is abundant. Yet, the production capacity needed to treat the water for public use is temporarily limited, mostly due to repairs at multiple facilities," said Mike Coate, the authority's executive director, according to a press release.
