Following a lead gift of $15,000 from Doug and Sherry Chapman, several local donors have come together in support of the Child Protection Center (CPC) by creating a $135,000 match challenge. The challenge is focused on combatting the effects of Covid-19 on the nonprofit, which—like other area nonprofits—has seen fundraising and events and grants cancelled.

CPC says critical cases have also increased due to the pandemic, and its programs have seen higher demand in recent months, including a 13 percent increase in treatment for child sexual abuse compared to the same time last year. The organization says it expects child abuse reports to increase further as children re-enter schools.
