Dick Vitale Gala Breaks Records, Reaching $5 Million Fundraising Goal

Vitale's V Foundation is on track to raise $7 million for pediatric cancer this year.

The 15th annual Dick Vitale Gala—this year a virtual event called “Passion 4 Pediatrics”—has already reached its $5 million fundraising goal, and Vitale's V Foundation says it is on track to raise $7 million for pediatric cancer research this year. The gala is one of the nation's leading cancer research fundraisers; this year's lineup will include honorees Bruce Arians, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach; Mark Few, Gonzaga University head basketball coach; and Stephen A. Smith, ESPN commentator.  The John Saunders V Foundation Courage Award will be presented to football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and basketball Hall of Famer Pat Williams. Special guest Mitch Albom will be accept a pediatric cancer research grant in memory of his daughter, Chika Jeune. Additionally, the foundation will present a grant presented to the parents of Will DeGregorio, who passed away in June after a long battle with osteosarcoma.  The program will include a musical performance by Mikari Tarpley, a live auction with VIP experiences, and other special features.
