Sarasota County Schools formally welcomed Dr. Brennan Asplen as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools this morning. The ceremony, officiated by Hon. Lee Haworth, was held in the school board’s chambers. A small gathering of Asplen’s family and friends, school board members and district personnel, and members of the citizen-comprised Community Advisory Committee witnessed the special occasion. Prior to his appointment at Sarasota County Schools superintendent, Asplen was deputy superintendent in charge of academic and student services for St. Johns County Schools and president of the Florida Association of School Administrators. He was also a middle and high school principal.
