On March 6, the International Union of Police Associations (I.U.P.A.) held a ribbon-cutting for its new Sarasota headquarters at 5632 Bee Ridge Road. The I.U.P.A. moved its headquarters from Ringling Boulevard, where it had leased office space since 2005, following its move to Florida from Alexandria, Virginia.

The I.U.P.A. offers a full range of services, including negotiations, arbitrations and assistance in administrative actions, legal representation, research capabilities, a press liaison and a law enforcement relief fund (LEORF).  The LEORF is available to the families of officers killed in the line of duty or suffering an unexpected calamity and has provided everything from tarps and generators to clean socks during the aftermath of hurricanes, as well as financial assistance during family medical emergencies. The I.U.P.A. also maintains a legislative office in the Washington, D.C. area to represent members at the federal level to Congress, the White House and the Department of Justice.
