On Sunday night, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that for the next eight weeks, organizations—both groups and individuals—cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more to help reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Sarasota County recently banned all events of 250 or more people on the heels of advice from the CDC and Gov. Ron DeSantis, and the City of Sarasota declared a public health emergency on Friday. Sarasota and Manatee county schools are also closed through at least March 30. According to the Florida Department of Health, 136 Floridians have tested positive for COVID-19 and six have been diagnosed and are isolated outside of Florida. There are currently 514 pending test results and 442 people being monitored. Four Floridians have died from the infection.
