Young professionals may lack the income to donate immense sums to the causes they care about, but that doesn't mean there's no way for them to give back. But how do you get started? That's the topic of a special panel discussion at Sarasota Magazine's fourth annual GeneroCity event, which takes place 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Entry is free.

The panel includes philanthropy expert Bob Carter, financial adviser Rob Weiss, Visit Sarasota County communications and content manager Britney Guertin, Community Foundation of Sarasota County manager of donor engagement Katie Schwabach and Chelsa Vahtomin, a Coldwell Banker Realtor and the community chair of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals Group. They'll cover ways to become involved as a volunteer and how to become a philanthropist.
