The School District of Manatee County is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Parrish elementary school at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31. Barbara A. Harvey Elementary School is scheduled to open at 8610 115th Ave. E., Parrish, in August 2019, with the capacity to house roughly 800 students. The project is being built by NDC Construction Company and is expected to cost $28 million. The school will be the first new elementary school opened by the district since 2009.
