Monica Slater Van Buskirk recently resigned as president and CEO of the Van Wezel Foundation after six years in the role. Under Van Buskirk's leadership, the foundation has provided important funding to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall’s children’s education program and various capital projects. Van Buskirk also created and launched the Where Inspiration Takes Center Stage initiative, now a centerpiece of the foundation’s annual development efforts, and during her tenure, over 150,000 children have taken school field trips on specially chartered buses to attend Van Wezel’s performances. Van Buskirk has also been closely involved with the foundation board in the discussion over redeveloping bayfront properties, including the Van Wezel.
