City Commission Vote-By-Mail Ballots Start Going Out

In the first round of voting, Jennifer Ahearn-Koch earned 21.2 percent of the vote, Hagen Brody won 19.6 percent and Martin Hyde received 14.6 percent.

The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office on Wednesday began sending out vote-by-mail ballots for the May 9 Sarasota City Commission election. The second round of voting includes the top three vote-getters from the first round, which was completed on March 14. In the first round of voting, Jennifer Ahearn-Koch earned 21.2 percent of the vote, Hagen Brody won 19.6 percent and Martin Hyde received 14.6 percent. The top two vote-getters in the next round will earn a seat on the City Commission. Early in-person voting begins Monday, May 1, and continues through Saturday, May 6. Registered voters who live within the city limits can request a vote-by-mail ballot until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3.
