The University of South Florida this week sold WUSF-TV’s public broadcast license for almost $18.8 million as part of the Federal Communication Commission’s Broadcast Incentive Auction. The program was created to increase capacity for wireless broadband use. WUSF-TV will go off the air later this year, after proceeds from the auction are received. Auction proceeds will be invested to support university initiatives, according to a press release. Proceeds are not expected to be distributed to the college till the fall, at the earliest.
