12.7 Million Sign Up for Insurance Through Obamacare Markets

Florida led the way in signups through HealthCare.gov, with more than 1.7 million plans selected.

Roughly 12.7 million Americans recently enrolled in health insurance plans through the marketplaces created by Obamacare, according to new numbers released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The enrollment period for 2017 ended on Jan. 31. "Of the 12.7 million consumers enrolling in Marketplace coverage, over 9.6 million came through the HealthCare.gov platform and 3.1 million selected a plan through State-based Marketplaces," according to a press release issued by the federal agency. Florida led the way in signups through HealthCare.gov, with more than 1.7 million plans selected. Almost 285,000 plans were purchased in the overall Tampa Bay market, which includes Sarasota.
