Michael Kessie, chief of the Campus Police Department of New College of Florida and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, was recently named the chair of the university and education committee of the Florida Police Chiefs Association. The Association has nearly 1,000 members, including more than 300 department chiefs and state, county and federal law enforcement partners, retired officers and private sector supporters. As chief of the Campus Police Department, Kessie supervises 12 sworn law enforcement officers and six civilian employees. Based at New College, the department also serves the nearby campus of University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee.
