Statewide Unemployment Rate Unchanged, But Local Rate Ticks Up
The unemployment rate in both Sarasota and Manatee County increased slightly in July.

Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.7 percent in July, unchanged from the June number, while both Sarasota and Manatee counties' un-adjusted rate increased, according to numbers released Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Sarasota's rate increased from 4.5 to 4.7 percent between June and July, while Manatee's rose from 4.5 to 4.8 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.9 percent last month.
