$1 Million Modernization Coming to Port Manatee

Beginning Monday, June 13, the south gate entrance to Port Manatee is slated to close for approximately 12 weeks for enhancements to security and traffic flow. During the closure, all port traffic is to be routed through Port Manatee’s north gate complex. Rather than use the South Dock Street entrance to the port during the construction period, truck drivers and others are asked to utilize the north gate, at Reeder Road and North Dock Street, which may be easily accessed from U.S. 41 by turning west at Piney Point Road, about one-quarter mile north of the South Dock Street intersection.
The $1 million modernization project is funded primarily through a federal port security grant and is projected to be completed by Sept. 1.
