On Wednesday evening, the City of Sarasota Planning Board will consider a change to its Future Land Use Map in order to make way for 393 affordable apartments on 7.9 acres just north of Fruitville Road near Audubon Place. The project, dubbed Vengroff Village, has been proposed by Harvey Vengroff. The apartment building would be a maximum of six stories, with 122 350-square-foot studio apartments, 95 one-bedroom units, 146 two-bedroom apartments and 30 three-bedroom units. Estimated rents would range from $650 to $950 per month. An informational session offered by Vengroff will take place before the meeting, at 4:30 p.m., at Bob's Train restaurant, 2211 Fruitville Road, currently located on the property.
