Booker High School senior and Girl Scout Raven Peters has organized Purses with Purpose, an event dealing with the issue of human trafficking. Participants will hear from knowledgable members of the community on this issue. The event takes place 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Girl Scouts Event and Conference Center, 4740 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota, and is free. Guests are asked to bring purses, sanitary and/or toiletry items. They will be distributed to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
