Whether the look is classic with a bit of swagger or downright futuristic, fine jewelry is mixing elegance with attitude. “It’s fun meets fine,” says Maureen Hoyt of Optional Art of her new line of stackable gel rings by German jewelry trend-setter Gellner. Known for exquisite pearls in traditional and avant-garde designs, Gellner asked artist Monika Seitter to explore designs with creative new uses for precious South Seas and Tahitian pearls. A single 18K ring mixes your choice of cultured pearls, faceted gemstones and color-coordinating gel shanks in limitless combinations (from $1,100 to $3,500 depending on the stones). Optional Art2, 119 S. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, (941) 955-4400.
