The newly restored BOTA (Boulevard of the Arts) Center in the Rosemary District, formerly the Baker Babcock Furniture Store, has been getting a lot of attention lately for its historical interest. The midcentury building was considered so innovative at the time of its construction that it was named “the most modern of any store in the organization” by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in 1957. Now listed on the City of Sarasota’s Local Register of Historic Places, the BOTA Center is also the site of a new sculpture, designed by yours truly. It also recently sold for $4.35 million.
