Sarasota is getting used to the controversial Vue, the new building that dominates the downtown skyline. Most of us have been to the rooftop bar, but the condos themselves are somewhat of a mystery. So here’s one that has just come on the market that will give you a pretty good idea of what’s inside that dramatic modernistic façade.

Actually, this unit is one of the larger and fancier ones. It’s got three bedrooms and three baths in a good-sized 2,400 square feet. As far as the view goes, the building lives up its name. It looks out over the bay and features an extra-large terrace—up to 15 feet deep—that gives you a great outdoor living area, something most of the new downtown condos just don’t have. A nice touch: the balcony railings are glass, so nothing blocks the view.

This unit is located on the eighth floor and has 10-foot ceilings, a wine bar, custom closets, motorized shades and a very deluxe kitchen. It’s being sold furnished; my favorite touch is the fabric full-wall headboard in the master bedroom. You also get two parking places in the garage directly below the building. Not that you’ll be using the Rolls that much—the walkability factor to downtown amenities couldn’t be much better.

1155 Gulfstream Ave., #805, is priced at $2.1 million. For more info, call Katina Shanahan of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty at (941) 702-0437.
