Detwiler's Farm Market recently purchased 8 acres of property in Palmetto that it will use as the site for a new grocery store, its fourth.

Detwiler's Farm Market recently purchased 8 acres of property in Palmetto that it will use as the site for a new grocery store, its fourth. The property was sold for $2.9 million. Detwiler’s is owned and operated by Henry and Natalie Detwiler and their nine children. The company began as a roadside stand in 2002 and opened its first store on Palmer Road in Sarasota in 2008. The company also has a store in Venice and one on University Parkway. The Palmetto store will be the company’s largest and will employ more than 100. Michael Saunders & Company agents Steven Larkin and Susan Goldstein represented Detwiler’s in the transaction. The new store will be located at 1800 U.S. 301, Palmetto.
