Celebrate Spring at These Classes and Events.

This week's events highlight spring flowers and architecture.

“Spring Training” is the theme of this year’s big CGA flower show presented by the Founders Garden Club of Sarasota from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Wednesday, April 13, at Phillippi Estate Park’s Edson Keith Mansion. This free, fun and educational flower show, with its judged floral entries, horticulture and photography, is themed to coincide with the American baseball training ritual that takes place in Florida each spring. 

 Center for Architecture Sarasota presents a lecture by New York architect Wendy Evans Joseph of Studio Joseph at 5:30 p.m. April 15. Among the many notable projects she has contributed to are the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. $10; free for students.

Selby Gardens’ assistant horticulturist, Angel Lara, hosts a class on potting and mounting orchids at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13. Register here selby.org/events/event/potting-mounting-orchids-session-ii/.
