Sarasota Memorial Hospital received another “A” in the Leapfrog Group's spring 2022 Hospital Safety report cards. The national distinction recognizes the Sarasota hospital for its continuous achievements in protecting hospitalized patients from medical errors and preventable harm. The latest grades provide a look at the impact of Covid-19 on patient safety in nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide.

Sarasota Memorial has earned consecutive A grades since it began participating in the Leapfrog survey in 2016. SMH-Venice, which opened in November 2021, is not yet eligible to participate in the survey. Across all states, 33 percent of hospitals surveyed in the spring 2022 hospital safety study received an “A,” 24 percent received a “B,” 36 percent received a “C,” 7 percent received a “D,” and less than 1 percent received an “F.”
