Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation recently awarded seven grants totaling more than $1.5 million to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The funds will be used to help purchase new equipment, upgrade facilities and enhance patient satisfaction.

$30,000 was provided for Ultra Cold Vaccine Freezers to store the Covid-19 vaccine.

$149,776 was granted to help acquire two new Mizuho/OSI-Hana tables. The orthopedic surgical tables will be used for patient positioning during leg fracture and hip procedures.

$188,884 was granted to help establish an Apheresis Program at SMH. Apheresis refers to a treatment that selectively removes abnormal cells or disease-provoking elements in the blood that are associated with certain diseases.

$110,230 will help purchase 55 med fusion pumps for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These pumps are used to dispense life-saving medications to critically ill and premature newborns.

$60,434 was provided to Labor and Delivery Services to help purchase15 new sleeper sofas, ensuring that new moms are able to have the support of a loved one.

$988,519 was granted to help renovate the Electrophysiology Lab in the Cardiac Cath Lab. The funds will help improve ergonomics and reduce turnaround times. The grant will also be used to purchase upgraded X-ray equipment, which will reduce radiation exposure, improve image quality and provide the latest software for X-ray technology.
