The Sarasota County Department of Health (DOH Sarasota) announced that it has temporarily closed its main immunizations clinic on Ringling Boulevard in Sarasota after staff members were exposed to COVID-19. Several staff members have been asked to self-isolate, the clinic says, and it is in the process of contacting clients who may have been exposed so they know to watch for symptoms and get tested. The clinic will reopen for services by appointment on July 10.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include, fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.
DOH Sarasota's North Port immunizations clinic is not affected by this exposure and is continuing to operate.
