According to the Gallup-Healthways Wellbeing Index, we here in Sarasota-Bradenton are pretty darn happy and healthy.

The Gallup-Healthways report, which was released on Tuesday, ranks 190 communities across the nation based on their overall well-being. Florida, California, Texas and Colorado each boast several communities with a high well-being quotient; Sarasota-Bradenton ranks No. 3 in the nation, behind Naples-Immolakee-Marco Island (No. 1), our neighbors to the south, and Salinas, Calif (No. 2). Rounding out the list at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, are Fort Collins, Colo., and Barnstable Town, Mass.
