Sarasota Art Museum’s Gift Shop Is a Perfect Stop for Whimsical and Unique Treasures

Located in the 1926-built, neo-Gothic-style Sarasota High School, the Sarasota Art Museum has become one of our leading cultural attractions since it opened in 2019. You can spend hours touring the exceptional rotating contemporary art exhibits, but don’t stop there. The campus also includes an excellent gift store, called Shop, run by Peter Capriotti, who has worked in museum retail for decades.
“We cover a lot of ground here at Shop,” he says. “We offer merchandise related to the revolving exhibitions, and we have such a great building that we’re always in a design state of mind. And because we’re in a building that has been repurposed, I like to find eco-friendly items, too.”
The gift shop is located on the museum’s first floor and is filled with beautiful and whimsical jewelry, handbags, kid-friendly merchandise, games, books, puzzles and much more. What’s always on hand is unique stationery. “I’ve always liked to have nice notecards around the shops I’ve run, but we’ve realized that the Shop is a destination for stationery. When you search for stationery in Sarasota, we’re the top result.”
