Linda Mosca makes coastal style chairs that pop.

Thanks to Sarasota-Manatee's award-winning beaches, coastal styles are always in—and Linda Mosca makes them sing with one-of-a-kind chairs that pop with flamingos, seashells, coral and more.

Originally from Johnston, Rhode Island, Mosca is self-taught, and has always “seen something new in the old.” She's been handcrafting her signature chairs for roughly six months with paint, fun patterns and custom fabrics.

But she’s always been crafty and creative. Before her current focus on chairs, she refinished wood bedroom sets, sanding and stripping tired surfaces to give them new life. She used to have a T-shirt business that grew into a clothing store with handbags and shoes, and she owned a floral arrangement shop in a Rhode Island mall. She also did interior design and oil painting. For 20 years, Mosca and her husband visited Sarasota every winter and "fell in love with it," she says, making the permanent move five years ago.

“I just love working with my hands and making something out of nothing,” she says.

A classic Florida flamingo theme gets an updated look.

Unless it’s commissioned, you won’t find a set of six. Each chair is unique, but buyers often enjoy the reaction they get from guests who get to sit in their own signature chair at the same table.

Mosca's chairs are featured at The Blue Flamingo and Elegant Domain Interiors and Gifts, both in Bradenton, Coastal Flow in Sarasota and The Sand Dollar on Anna Maria Island. Find her on Facebook or Etsy.
