Ring in the New Year with a full belly and plenty of cocktails at some of our favorite local restaurants.

Cheers to the New Year!

Cheers to the New Year!

Kolucan

6644 Gateway Ave., Sarasota, (941) 921-3133, kolucan.com

Pan-roasted Chilean seabass with a morita chile lobster risotto is just one amazing-sounding dish being served on New Year's Eve at Kolucan in Gulf Gate. Guests can also expect filet, pork shank and chilled lobster cakes, all with chefs Gino Calleja's and Jose Rojas' distinct Mexican spin.

Indigenous

239 S. Links Ave., Sarasota, (941) 706-4740, indigenoussarasota.com

Take the opportunity to indulge in a fish-forward meal on one of the rare Sundays Indigenous is open. Reservations go quickly, but you may be able to snag a seat at the bar inside the wine cottage. No promises.

Meliora

1920 Hillview St., Sarasota, (941) 444-7692, meliorarestaurant.com

This year, Meliora will be offering its full menu plus plenty of New Year's Eve specialties from the mad genius mind of chef Drew Adams. Be sure to order our favorite dish, raw scallops with herbed cream sauce, while you're there.

Michael's on East

1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota, (941) 366-0007, bestfood.com

Perennial Sarasota hit Michael's on East promises culinary excellence this New Year's Eve. We love the idea of a classic continental meal complete with caviar, lamb and maybe even truffled macaroni and cheese. No matter what you choose, Michael's swanky dining room is sure to be bustling.

Duval's

1435 Main St., Sarasota, (941) 312-4001, duvalsfreshlocalseafood.com

Before heading out to watch the pineapple drop, enjoy a meal at nearby Duval's. This year's three-course menu will include filet Marsala, an ocean platter or coconut-crusted fresh catch. Don't forget to snag a glass of bubbles.

Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar

5353 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, (941) 925-4444, creekseafood.com

Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar may be open 365 days per year, but on special holidays the kitchen serves roasted prime rib alongside its seafood-inspired menu. As always, save room for oysters and ask what other specials they may have available. Chef Pedro Flores' specials are culinary wizardry.
