Phil Pagano, the former executive director of the still-shuttered Sarasota Farmers Market, has found a new gig. He recently opened Uncle Phil's Organic Popcorn, a popcorn shop and market located at 1316 N. East Ave., Sarasota.

Shortly after the downtown farmers' market ceased operations in March, Pagano resigned as executive director. Pagano has sold organic popcorn at events as what he calls a "hobby" for a decade. In addition to selling popcorn, Pagano plans to sell items from local farmers' market vendors.

"The general store will have a pickup location for market vendors that sell on their website and through social media," said Pagano, according to a press release. "The general store will also carry some market vendor items on a regular basis."
