It’s a Tuesday evening, it’s pouring outside and you’re too exhausted to consider making dinner or going out for a bite. Thanks to a few smartphone apps that connect you with delivery options from local restaurants, you don’t have to budge from your couch. Here’s the lowdown on three popular restaurant delivery apps.

Bite Squad

Ordering options: Online at bitesquad.com, free app at App Store and Google Play

Delivery cost: Around $5

Top local restaurant choices: Smacks Burgers & Shakes, Melange, State Street Eating House + Cocktails

Perks: Far and away the biggest selection of local restaurants to choose from

Downside: Full menus not available from all restaurants

Grubhub

Ordering options: Online at grubhub.com, free app at App Store and Google Play

Delivery cost: Ranges from free to $6

Top local restaurant choices: Yume Sushi, Drunken Poet, Ssam Bar

Perks: Plan a meal for between two hours or four days ahead of time through the app’s pre-order feature

Downside: Limited number of restaurants in the Sarasota and Bradenton markets so far

Uber Eats

Ordering options: Online at ubereats.com, free app at App Store and Google Play

Delivery cost: Around $5

Top local restaurant choices: Goichi’s Sushi Cafe, Il Panificio, Louies Modern

Perks: Track your order from when the restaurant starts prepping it to when the Uber driver arrives

Downside: While service recently spread to Bradenton and Palmetto, the number of participating restaurants still lags.
