Ron McCarty, curator and keeper of the Ca d’Zan mansion at The Ringling, will talk about preserving the Ringling legacy at Designing Women Boutique’s next Salon Series luncheon Thursday, Sept. 29. McCarty managed the seven-year restoration of John and Mable’s Italianate mansion. Tickets, $20, can be purchased at designingwomenboutique.org.

That great midcentury community, South Gate, is throwing a party to celebrate its 60th anniversary tomorrow night, at the wonderful Victor Lundy-designed South Gate Community Center on Phillippi Creek. South Gate restaurants are providing the refreshments, and dance tunes from the ’50s through today are promised. Silent auction, too; visit bidpal.net/southgate60 for all the details.

Tickets are on sale now for the third annual Sarasota MOD Weekend, to be held Nov. 11-13 at various venues. This year’s event focuses on Sarasota School of Architecture star Victor Lundy. You can read more about Lundy here , and purchase your MOD Weekend tickets at sarasotamod.com.
