Selby Gardens Music Series

Bluesy storytelling guitarist Seth Walker headlines the Selby Gardens Music Series concert Sunday afternoon under the banyan trees at everybody’s favorite botanical garden. The outdoor concert series, included in your admission to Selby Gardens (free for members, of course) continues every Sunday through May 8. Hint, hint, that’s Mother’s Day. Jazz in the Ballpark

Now that spring training’s over, the Baltimore Orioles Art in the Park series at Ed Smith Stadium begins with a brand-new event—Jazz in the Ballpark. Produced by the Jazz Club of Sarasota, “The Music of Sinatra and Friends” will feature the 17-piece Sarasota Jazz Project big band and nationally recognized vocalist Lisanne Lyons, who happens to be a graduate of Sarasota High. Bradenton Marauders Pirates and Princesses Night

Speaking of baseball, the Bradenton Marauders (part of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization) open their summer season at Bradenton’s McKechnie Field Saturday night with Pirates and Princesses Night, Yes, that’s right, you’re invited to come dressed as a pirate or a princess, and there will be horse and carriage rides, princess appearances and a costume parade, plus post-game fireworks.

CAN JAM 2016: Graffiti art battle

Eight of Florida’s most talented graffiti artists will battle it out in a free, high-energy, interactive graffiti art event at Keeton’s Office and Art Supply in downtown Bradenton. The fun starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, with hourly giveaways, the chance to stencil your own T-shirt for $10, jam to some great tunes, and enjoy delicious local food. A “Kid Zone” for the little ones to safely partake in the action. Most importantly, you’ll be able to help spray paint all four sides of Keeton’s warehouse, with spray paint provided by Keeton’s for free, regardless of experience or talent.
