Only in Sarasota: Sarasota High School
John Pirman illustrates the Paul Rudolph-designed Sarasota High School
One of Sarasota’s architectural jewels is the Paul Rudolph-designed Sarasota High School, which was completed in 1960. Built to withstand Florida’s tropical climate, the recently restored building sits on a small hill for better ventilation, with concrete planes functioning as sunshields on the entrance staircase and front elevation. “Its timeless design is an inspiration for future generations,” illustrator John Pirman says.
