Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Monday night that he is again extending the state's existing eviction and foreclosure moratorium until 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2020. However, there are caveats: the moratorium only applies to those “adversely affected by the COVID-19 emergency,” and that all missed rent and mortgage payments are due when the tenant or borrower “is no longer adversely affected by the COVID-19 emergency,” which the order defines as a job loss or other income reduction.

DeSantis on Tuesday also announced plans to lift the state's ban on visitation to nursing homes, which has been in place since the beginning of the pandemic in mid-March. The executive order will allow family members to visit their loved ones no more than two at a time; they must wear protective gear including masks. Nursing homes and care facilities would also need report no new Covid-19 cases among staff or residents for at least 14 days in order to allow the visits.
