The American economy added 211,000 new jobs during the month of April and the unemployment rate held steady at 4.4 percent, according to numbers released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The number of new jobs was up from March, when just 79,000 new jobs were created, but down from February, which saw 232,000 new jobs added. The leisure and hospitality sector saw the most growth, with 55,000 new jobs added in April.
