Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital of Sarasota both recently received top five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The federal government created the ratings to make it easier for people to compare how well their community hospitals perform on a range of inpatient and outpatient quality indictors. The centers evaluated more than 50 quality measures to create the ratings. Lakewood Ranch Medical Center received three stars, Venice Regional Medical Center received two stars and Manatee Memorial Hospital and Blake Medical Center both received just one star.
