$2.5 Million for Rowing Park Survives Governor’s Veto Pen

Five years ago, during his first year in office, Scott vetoed $5 million in funding for the park.

Gov. Rick Scott this week announced $256 million in vetoes from this year’s state budget. One item not included on his veto list: $2.5 million for Sarasota’s Nathan Benderson Park, which will host the World Rowing Championships next September. Last year, the Nathan Benderson Park Foundation announced its intention to request $11 million in state funding from this year’s budget. Five years ago, during his first year in office, Scott vetoed $5 million in funding for the park.
